USAREUR driving License

USAREUR driving License

  • USAREUR Driver’s License Requirement: Before you can register a vehicle and get your german plates, you must possess a valid USAREUR Driver’s License. This license is mandatory for all active-duty military personnel, their dependents, and Department of Defense civilians stationed in Europe.

  • Application Process: To obtain a USAREUR driver’s license certificate you must first complete an online training course available through the Joint Knowledge Online (JKO) platform. After completing the course, you must pass a written test that covers German traffic laws and regulations.

  • Testing Locations: The test is typically administered at the Ramstein Driving Office or other designated military installations. It’s important to schedule your test in advance to secure a spot.

  • Required Documents: When applying for the license, ensure you have your Common Access Card (CAC), a valid stateside driver’s license, and any other required documents specified by your local office.

  • Validity Period: The USAREUR driver’s license is typically valid for the duration of your assignment in Europe. However, it’s crucial to check the expiration date and renew it as needed to avoid any legal issues.

  • Vehicle Registration: Once you have your USAREUR driver’s license, you can proceed with the vehicle registration process. This includes providing proof of insurance and passing a vehicle inspection to ensure compliance with local safety standards.

  • Penalties for Non-Compliance: Operating a vehicle without a valid USAREUR driver’s license can result in fines, vehicle impoundment, and other disciplinary actions. Always ensure your license is current and meets the necessary requirements.

Note! A USAREUR Driver's License is required to register a vehicle.
